The History of Isuzu Commercial Trucks in America
You’ve likely heard of Isuzu trucks and have probably even noticed them on the road. The history of the brand dates back to 1916 and continues to grow today. Our team at Tri-County Truck & Equipment is excited to share a brief history with you so you can get to know Isuzu better!
Arriving in America
In 1919, the first Isuzu truck was built in Japan after the company’s beginning in 1916. The introduction of their first truck, which was the first Japan had ever seen, would lead to many industry firsts for the brand.
The Isuzu truck did not arrive in America until many years later, in 1984. It was shipped to the Port of Jacksonville in Florida and arrived on November 10. The truck that was waiting to drive on American soil for the first time was Isuzu’s KS22, a low cab forward design that introduced business owners to a new way of truck transportation. The model delivered maneuverability, low cost of ownership, and durability.
It only took two short years for Isuzu trucks to become the best-selling low cab forward trucks in the American market. This feat is still true today!
What’s Next for Them?
Since their arrival to North America in 1984, Isuzu has accomplished amazing innovations and accomplishments within the industry. They continue to push boundaries and make improvements to their fleet. Each year the company announces new and exciting changes to advance the quality of their trucks.
Isuzu trucks will continue to make history and build their reputation for years to come. If you’re interested in learning more or want to experience these vehicles firsthand, we’d love for you to visit our team in Pompano Beach. We’re proud to serve the tri-county area and Fort Lauderdale, FL.
